What do I get with my purchase?

Each listing here at SVG Salon contains files in SVG, EPS (CS6), DXF, JPEG, and PNG format, compressed into a zipped folder for ease of downloading.  If you are unfamiliar with zipped folders, please visit our How-To Guide for step-by-step instructions on how to unzip your folder.

How do I get my purchase?

Once your payment is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email containing links to download each purchased listing.  Alternatively, please visit the Downloads tab in your Account to access all of your download history.

Please keep in mind that each listing may only be downloaded 3 times before your link expires.

Can I use my mobile device (phone or tablet) to download my purchase?

No, you cannot use a mobile device to download zipped folders, as these devices do not have the capability to deal with these types of files.  If you attempt to download from a mobile device, this will simply use up your downloads without any files to show for it.  Instead, please download all purchases from a computer.

How do I know which file type I need?

This will vary, depending on the machine you use, and how you plan to use the images.  Let’s break it down:

Cricut Expression 1 and Expression 2 Machines

The Expression series operates primarily via physical cartridges that you plug into the machine, as well as via an online portal called Cricut Craft Room.  Please be aware that Craft Room can only use .ccr file types, which Cricut and Provo Craft have exclusive distribution rights to.  With that in mind, you cannot use any of the files sold here at SVG Salon with Craft Room.

However, the Expression machines are able to be connected to a program called Sure Cuts A Lot, which can use SVGfiles, which we offer in all of our listings.  Should you have this program, please ensure that you have verified that the version you have works with your machine prior to purchasing any files.  Currently, only Versions 1 and 2 will transfer files to an Expression machine.

Cricut Explore, Explore One, and Explore Air Machines

The Explore series accepts both physical cartridges, as well as digital files via Cricut Design Space.  All of our listings here at SVG Salon are compatible with Design Space, using the SVG file.  Please visit our How-To section for tips on using the SVG files with Design Space.

Silhouette Cameo, Curio, and Portrait Machines

The Silhouette Cameo, Curio, and Portrait machines all use Silhouette Studio software, which is broken down into two editions: Basic and Designer.

Silhouette Studio Basic Edition

This software is a free download that comes with your machine.  If you use the Basic Edition of Studio, please use the DXF file included in the listings here.  Please note that these files will take more time to cut on your machine, and can sometimes result in a slightly less “clean” cut than the SVG files.  This is due to the makeup of the file type itself, and is not a reflection on the quality of the design.  Additionally, DXF files will show up in your software as lines only, without any colored fill.  They are ready to cut, however, should you wish to view the colors on screen prior to cutting, you will need to manually fill these in.

Silhouette Studio Designer Edition

This is a paid upgrade to the basic software that came with your machine.  Here at SVG Salon, we highly recommend purchasing this upgrade, as it enables you to use the SVG files included in the listings we offer.  You will find that using an SVG results in cuts that are cleaner, faster, and easier to manage visually, as each layer loads in full color.

Please visit our How-To section for tips on using your SVG and DXF files with Silhouette Studio.

Sure Cuts A Lot

The Sure Cuts A Lot program is compatible with all of the listings in this shop using the SVG files included in your download.  Please visit our How-To section for tips on using SVG files with SCAL.

Make the Cut!

The Make the Cut! program is compatible with all of the listings in this shop using the SVG files included in your download.  Please visit our How-To section for tips on using SVG files with Make the Cut!.

Brother ScanNCutCanvas

The ScanNCutCanvas program is compatible with all of the listings in this shop using the SVG files included in your download.  Please visit our How-To section for tips on using SVG files with ScanNCutCanvas.

Standard Printers

Both the JPEG and PNG files in the listings here at SVG Salon can be printed with any standard printer, should you wish to make a framed print of our work, or print it with iron on transfer paper.  Please visit our How-To section for tips on printing.

Do you offer .studio file types?

No, we don’t.  These file types are proprietary to Silhouette America, and their sale by any third party vendor is strictly prohibited.

Do you offer any other file types?

Yes, we do!  Should you require a file type or version of Illustrator that is not listed, please contact us prior to making your purchase.  If we are able to provide the file type you need, we will create a custom listing for you and send you a direct purchase link.

May I Digitize Your Designs For Embroidery?

All files sold by SVG Salon may only be used in their original format. Therefore, you may not digitize any SVG Salon design into embroidery designs for personal use or resale.

May I sell products that I create with the designs I purchase here?

These files are available for PERSONAL and SMALL BUSINESS COMMERCIAL use.  This means that you may use each file you purchase to create any physical object to use personally, give to a friend, or sell a maximum of 100 items via your small business.

However, you MAY NOT use the files, or any part of them, to sell digitally in any format, including digitizing the images for resale as embroidery files.  You are also prohibited from sharing these files with anybody.  The file you purchase is only licensed for your use.  Should you share it with or sell it to anyone, you are infringing on the SVG Salon terms of use and copyright.

I use Silhouette Basic Edition and DXF files. Why do I lose some parts of the monogram letters when I weld them together?

Unlike SVG files, DXF files are composed solely of lines, and don’t contain any fill information.  Because of this, we need to tell Studio which lines go with which letter before welding by making each letter a compound shape. To do this, click and drag around each letter individually, right click, and select compound shape. Once all of your letters are compound shapes, you can then position them and weld them.

For a detailed tutorial on using the DXF monogram files, you can take a look at my blog post here.

Why does my SVG file show up as a black blob in Silhouette Studio Designer Edition?

This can happen when you have the program set to merge the layers. Simply right click, and ungroup the image. Then you will be able to access all of the layers and recolor them as needed.

Do you offer refunds?

By the very nature of digital downloads, these files are not “returnable”.  As such, we do not offer refunds or exchanges for any reason.  For this reason, we ask that you take the time to verify that you are purchasing file types that will work with your machine, and for your needs.

If I have difficulties with my purchase, is help available?

Yes, absolutely!  If you are unable to find a solution in our How-To Guide, please click on the Contact button on the top menu to send us an email.  Due to the volume of custom order requests and customer correspondence we receive each day, please allow 24 – 48 business hours for a response.
